Osteopathy.
Osteopathy recognizes the interconnected nature of the body and its innate ability to heal and
restore rhythm.
The osteopathic manual therapist evaluates all tissues of the body including: bones, myofascial
structures, blood and nerve vessels, viscera (organs), fluidic structures and meninges. Through
palpation of these components, the osteopathic approach can support the health of all systems
of the body including: the nervous, digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, gynecological,
hormonal, pressure, cellular, musculoskeletal and cranial sacral. The osteopathic assessment
and treatment techniques reveal and remove the barriers to restore the harmonious and healthy
physiology of the individual. Whether the patient is an infant with colic, an athlete with a history
of concussions, a traumatic injury, or an ankle sprain, the adaptable approach of osteopathy
meets the needs of all ages and conditions; is gentle, safe and respectful; and welcomes the
individual to their true nature.

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the
difference.” ~ Robert Frost
In 2002, Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Science, with honours from Dalhousie University in
Microbiology and Immunology. Following graduation, she flourished in a successful career in the
pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries for over fifteen years.
Years into that career, something began to eat away and nudge Laura to question if there was
more to offer individuals other than medications and symptom management; alternate ways to
foster and optimize quality of life and wellness.
It was her own personal experience with this modality called ‘osteopathy’ that no one had heard
of, despite its origins from the 1800’s, that led her to apply and embark on one of the most
challenging and remarkable experiences of her life at the Canadian College of Osteopathy
(CCO). The intensive program was a six year journey, including a thesis and defence in the final
year. Laura researched and defended “The Effects of Global Osteopathic Treatment on the
Autonomic Nervous System as Measured by the COMPASS 31 in Hypertension.”
Since 2019, Laura has grown a successful home practice beginning with massage therapy,
followed by osteopathy in Grimsby, Ontario, where she treated individuals of all ages and
conditions (including pregnancy, infants and children). Laura believes it is an honour and
privilege to be a part of each individuals’ healing journey.
Laura and her family have recently returned to her roots in Alberta, and are thrilled to be in the
Cochrane community. She is an active member of the Alberta Association of Osteopathic
Manual Therapists (AAOMT). Laura is extremely passionate about health, diet and movement
immersed in nature. Laura is also a trained yoga teacher, and enjoys hiking, long distance
running and skiing.
With her sensitive approach, Laura is looking forward to sharing her gifts with this community
and collaborating with the exceptional practitioners at Fox Sport and Spine.
